In a push for digital independence, Europe debuts its own collaboration tool.
Is this a good thing?...yes & no.
Why it's good. The United States has horrible privacy laws, in addition Big Tech has a monopoly in numerous markets which means they control a large portion of the internet. Any legitimate competition will help eventually destabilize Big Tech's hold.
However, this news is not surprising, if you are involved in any tech subreddits you will see a mass exodus of Canadians and Europeans off of US software solutions
Why it's bad...Although France, Germany, Canada, etc. have been vocal about the recent developments in the United States they are all willing participants of the 9 eyes (/ref). In addition, all of the countries have a horrendous track record in coups, proxy wars, colonization, imperialism, and genocide.
France decides to NOT follow the UK's lead in mandating encryption backdoors in all software. However, in rejecting the backdoor mandate, it doesn't absolve the Country of having already established back doors through Zero Days (/ref). In fact, France recently jailed Telegram's founder and CEO Pavel Durov ..... for not giving them access to customer information. Rather you agree with France on their decision or not to put Telegram in jail, it gives you another prospective.

France & Germany's new software solution called will likely ease the mind of many Europeans, but any tool created by Big Tech or state actors should not be trusted.
